Thread: R. Kelly song for his mother

Being that it is Mother's Day weekend, I happened to listen to "Sadie" and couldn't help but wonder why Rob had never released more songs about his mom. I mean, Sadie is a remake and I think "Dedicated" was for his mom but I just wonder why we don't have a song specifically named "Joanne". Any thoughts? Are there songs out there I just don't recall?

It may be so hard for him...he probably has written more songs about her but it maybe 2 hard 2 sing or perform...I mean I can recall certain interviews where he has broke down crying when asked a question about her....it would b nice 2 hear more of songs dedicated 2 his mom tho....

I definitely felt the "I Wish" video had an ode to his mother - the whole "What does it profit" section was very overtly about his mother speaking to him. I guess you could attribute "Heaven I Need A Hug" to her too - the first two words are "Dear Momma".

Also a little tribute from Jay Z at the end of the BOBW title track too.

Yeah, those songs definitely mention her and have her in mind, but given their bond I would think he would have a single song just about her. I think "Trade in My Life" was about his mom in some aspect too.

"Dedicated" is for his my mom too.

WAWL ... thats what he called the momma's boy coming out in him ... I think his passion & his delivery when performing this track is always in memory of his mother.

Yea, towards the end of the video. They look just alike! Same smile and eyes.

WAWL is definately dedicated to his mom...the delivery everytime he performs that songs says it all...'she's got more faith i me, then a beach got sand'' this is truly deep and perfectly suited for a mother...

more momma's boy songs are more than welcome...even a whole album for mother's day...similar to the vibe in love letter...
