Thread: R.Kelly doing Sam Cooke do you release it?

loved the show, in his living room none the less and the atmosphere and that band needs to be backing him up right now as we speak.

anyway you saw the show would you say put out a cd and dvd of that performance?

also has R.Kelly made you more interested in Sam Cooke than you were before?

how influential do you feel Cooke is on Kelly? musically with the gospel,pop and R&B riffs and runs?

Hell Yeah he should release a cd and dvd of that performance or even add it as a bonus disc on his next album! i am definitley more interested in sam cooke now cuz of kellz and find myself lookin into his music! You can def. tell sam cookes influence on kellz.....

I would love a dvd of him doing those songs. I think it'd be great. And yes he has made me a bit more interested in Sam's music.

Yes, I think he should release a CD of this performance. He does a great job of paying homage to Sam Cooke and he sounds incredibly like Sam while at the same time still sounding like himself. I've been listening to Sam Cooke's music for a number of years, and I would love for R Kelly to do a CD of Sam Cooke's greatest hits.

I love the connection that R. Kelly feels to Sam Cooke's music. I have to admit, I had never heard of Sam Cooke before meeting you peepz years ago. I heard people discuss Sam Cooke so I decided to buy a greatest hits CD and soon after, I wanted to get my hands on all the Sam Cooke music I could get. I also got books that were written about him. And now Sam Cooke is my second favorite artist after R. Kelly. When he sang A Change Is Gonna Come and Bring It On Home To me in the Oakland show I went to, that meant so much to me. And if he decides to keep paying homage to Sam Cooke, it's a real dream come true for me.

After seeing the youtube videos I created a cd with R and Sam Cooke songs and I've been playing it a lot in my car...

I mentioned in the other thread that he definitely needs to release it; it'll be a selfless act (keeping Sam's legacy alive and generating income for his estate) as well as fattening our boy's pockets a little; Jojo, Jaya and Rob Jnr. have to go to good colleges

A DVD would be nice. A CD, well, I dunno...
I'd like feeling the whole atmosphere rather than just listening to the music.
I'm not really big on Sam Cooke, that's got a lot to do with it.
He's not one of my favorites out of all the legendary artists I listen to.

As for his influence on Kellz, it's so obvious, no doubt. He dedicated the whole Love Letter project itself to him. The time, the money and the energy.
I feel he's at a point in his career where he can cover artists he looks up to, without having to be afraid of being called "_____" wannabe.
I mean, when you're a nobody, you do a whole lot of covers, and then when you first start out, it's time to build up your musical identity
and let the public know you that way.
IMO, doing covers during the period is probably a big no-no.

I'm usually against cover albums being released but this is a tricky one cos I love R's versions of the songs.

I'm still gonna go with no though. A bonus disk along with Love Letter or something like that coulda been good, but I wouldn't like to see a cover album thrown out there by itself it gives off the impression that the person has given up trying to write their own stuff imo.
