Thread: R. Kelly considers writing anthem for lebron if he joins the bulls

R. Kelly has written several high-profile sports anthems, including “I Believe I Can Fly” for the animated basketball movie “Space Jam” starring Michael Jordan, and the new “Sign of a Victory,” the official anthem of the World Cup. Kelly performed the latter song today as part of the World Cup opening ceremonies.


Kelly says he wrote “Sign of a Victory” in two days because “I was just so inspired” by the World Cup.
But would Kelly, a native of the Windy City, be inspired to pen another sports song if LeBron James decides this summer to move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Chicago Bulls? Perhaps. When Speakeasy asked Kelly about James’ possible move, he said that he had a title in mind, “Something like ‘Time to Win Again.’”


“LeBron is such a great player,” says Kelly. “Here’s my take on this — I hope he doesn’t come to Chicago because I like playing against him. He’s one of the greatest out there. I’m a Kobe [Bryant] guy and I like to see him and Kobe go at it. But if he does come to Chicago I will be on the front row rooting him on…When you’re doing something for my city then I have to go represent, and it’s all good. But I’m hoping that he doesn’t and if he does he better come with somebody else.”
Kelly says that there’s no difference between writing about basketball, soccer, or even boxing — in 2001 he composed the song “The World’s Greatest” for the movie “Ali.”


“It’s all sports–it’s all people,” says Kelly. ‘When you mix sports and music together, [and] you know what you’re doing, you’re usually going to come up with something that’s going to touch a lot of people.”

Ummm...ok? He's embracing this anthem thing. Lol. More power to him. Can't hurt.

Even if Kellz made a theme song for the dumbest thing i bet he would make a good ass song about it lol

on a mix tape tip than cool. Lebron don't need any more tributes he needs to eventually win a title or two. he has personally hi jacked this NBA finals which i ain't madd at him because it is boring me.

Ya i dunno how i feel about it.....maybe just a new bulls anthem? Whys it gotta be about LJ....
