One thing about Kelly is this: EVOLUTION and INNOVATION. Kelly is a genius! Ever since his New Jack Swing sound to 12 Play to R. to Trapped and etc... He has grown as a singer, songwriter, producer, composer, performer, and the list goes on. He didn't just change his sound, he changed a big part of the landscape of music in general. He is the most versatile producer out there. Not to mention songwriter.
As of right now... Snoop Dogg; That's That Sh*t. Bow Wow; I'm a flirt. Make It Rain (remix). Don't Let Go (Hold On). Ciara; Promise (Get your tickets mix).
If you take these songs and analyze 'em, you will notice that they're all different styles of songs. Vocally, they're all different. His delivery isn't the same in any of 'em. Plain and simple, the dude is versatile! Kelly can adapt to any style, because that's apart of his style. NOBODY else in the game can do that! NOBODY! Who else can work with Celine Dion and Jay Z on the same ablum? (double ablum R.) Who else can write/produce a gospel album and a club record at the same time??? Don't forget, he writes hits! Don't even get me started on "Trapped in the Closet..."
Bottom line is this: Kelly can't be touched. He doesn't produce for radio. In other words, you have a lot of cats that are "hot" for now, and after the fire fades they're nowhere to be found. Kelly doesn't follow trends, he creates his "own" sh*t...
He doesn't get his props, but he doesn't need MEDIA (MTV, BET, VH1, Rolling Stone, Vibe, etc...) to push him. Kelly has fans. He has a following. I've said this before, and I'll say it again:
Imagine if they (Jive) would've pushed his albums like they've pushed JT, Brit, Usher, etc... Them other acts recieved MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR pub! Kelly doesn't need that, but sometimes I wonder...
The Greatest of All Time... The King of R&B.
