I didnt leave it off to "strengthen" my case. I left it off because my post was about what people bitch about wanting.

And no one really bitches about wanting Kellz rapping since that is what he's done for the past two years.

i want kelly to make an album to make the world take notice. he has that talent. kelly will NEVER put together as many 5 star slow jams like on 12play. just like michael has been trying but cant remake thriller. i love hip hop music, and rkelly hip hop songs arent great hip hop songs, they're ok. as much as i loved the track double up, not once have i heard in any club of any kind ya feel me. i think the fans want to hear kelly at his best, doing what he does best. kelly's soulfulness and frankness in his music has made him great. thats what people is wanting for imo. he can do anything musically but i wont be mad cuz someone doesnt want to hear the worlds greatest singing about patron, maybachs, and the like 3 albums in a row. i think 12play 4 is a step in the right direction and is a rough draft not a FINISHED album. its hard to be unbiased when you know ''i like love'' and touched a dream is out there and then you hear ''two seater'' type shit its like what the hell ya know. at the end i just want kelly to be make great music. the beautiful thing about R always has been that each album up until the last couple didnt sound like the previous one. now it seems the songs can interchange, like a jaheim album. and personally i feel like ive grown with r kelly. i was 15 when i 1st fell in love with his music. and i had my 1st love to his shit, got married to it, made a baby to it, lost my woman to it, and right now we(me and his music) just havent been growing up together anymore..im a grown man and he's 41 singing stuff i dont relate to the same.

I just wish that some of the more......"choosy"......members would evaluate the new music from an unbiased and fresh perspective.

Seems to me that the old tired argument of "well, THAT aint no 'Bump and Grind' or 'I Wish" is getting pretty old.
I am not talking about anything he did before. I also don't like these comparisons like "he should do an album like CF or the self-titled". I really want something new and fresh that takes not only R. Kelly to another level, the perfect R. Kelly album would take R&B to another level. And the last three (including 12Play4thQuarter) albums missed that by far. The albums ain't that bad but it's more or less the same vibe that you hear from other so called "hot artists". I know it might have been the same in the 90s, but R&B was different and in my opinion better back than. I think that only R. Kelly has the impact and the creativity to give R&B back what it deserves: QUALITY.

Speaking fo that I wanna get back on something K. Johnson mentioned on the first page: The missing smash hit. Let's be honest: R. Kelly didn't have a real international smash hit for a while now. An album full of sexual slow jams won't change that. If he wants to get back on top he needs a song that almost everybody can relate to. And these songs are usually love songs or inspirational songs. The radio is full of sexual songs and almost every cd has a "explict lyrics" sticker on it. Such songs might be good but the create no buzz anymore like "Bump&Grind" or "You remind me of something" might have done back than. I think that R. Kelly has still the ability to write and sing such a song, in fact I think "I look to you" has huge potential. But he needs to get out of the bedroom for a minute. The other possibility would be a whole project that draws attention and gets him back on top, y'all know what I'm thinking about.

Mixmaster, isnt this section above a bit of a contradiction?

You want an international smash hit but think sexual slow jams wont accomplish it? But you think love or inspirational slow jams will? The slow jams part is a contradiction and so is the sexual versus inspirational/love because of his past international hits that charted across the board--

    Im'a Flirt: Top40 #10, US R&B: #2, UK: #18, GER: #50

Wouldnt you say the above is an international hit? Because when you compare it to Ignition Remix:

    Ignition Remix: Top40 #2, US R&B: #2, UK: #1, GER: #36

And you have to remember Ignition Remix was a MONSTER and a viral PHENOMENON...and still we are talking about just a few chart positions?? Still in the Top 10 on Top40, still in the Top 2 on R&B, still in the Top 20 in the UK and our friends over in Germany had the biggest jump but both songs arent even in the Top 25???

Also both songs are MID-TEMPO and both songs see him using both slight singing AND sing-rapping.

To further prove my argument lets look at Step in the Name of Love--

    Top40: #9, USR&B: #1, UK: #14, GER: #69

Now, Step in the Name of Love is the coup de grace for the love/inspirational folks on the board. Its slow, its about love, he is singing and its even a bit inspirational. But guess what?! It more closely resembles the chart performance of Im'a Flirt! And Ignition Remix beats it to a bloody pulp. Two songs, which we know and I have proven above are not of the love or inspirational orientation. Also, Happy People and U Saved Me closely match the performance of Step in the Name of Love if not are a bit weaker. FYI.

I agree that I expect, want and need QUALITY. But when you talk about songs that will "hit it out of the park" for R.Kelly that quality is compromised. Because radio doesnt like quality. Which is why the arguments of R.Kelly putting out quality music full of love, slow and inspirational cuts but still selling 1mil plus copies and having 2-3 radio singles that will carry him there is a very difficult argument to prove.

I love this latest project....its like he has heard all the criticism over the past few years about his songs having to much "Club" & "Dubs"....critcs are saying he has lost his way....& we here in the forum have been yearning for the R to bring R&B back!!!!! Bring us those sexual, crude, parental advisory, "Did he just say what I think he said?" lyrics....this album is all about love people!!...there are no interludes, no major drama tracks, no firing at the haters, no collabo's (Which everybody has said in the past they are sick of!),

Donny Lyle & Kells have done the business on this album!...some of the tracks are fantastic!....classic in fact....whether he produced them 3 weeks ago, 6 months ago, 2 years ago, freakin 5 years ago...it does not matter in the slightest to me....that doesnt worry me..I have no need to question that....all I know is the tracks are here...they are the here and now....and lets keep it real here, he aint gonna produce another Your Bodies Callin or a Sex Me....so we need to get past that....but what he can do is produce music & a sound along those lines which he has nailed with this project...and if you cant here the similarities I suggest people need to blow the dust off there 12-Play 12" or there CD and go listen & compare.....

I respect that people want another I Wish....that is an undoubted classic but I'm guessing for him to write & produce a track along those lines he would need some drama in his life....do people really wanna see him go through the struggle????...after the past 6 years of bullshit do people really wanna hear him talk about drama???..I know I dont!....thats what I like album, he is talking about love & sex in the main he aint talking about whats happened recently...no big intro track....its refreshing

I am well & truly over the moon with this album....I'll be honest, I thought everyone else would considering the direction he has took...but I guess you cant please everyone...it wouldnt surprise me though that people in here who are knocking it are no doubt jamming to it at home!....just take the album for what is people!

I really feel like Kellz knows what the people want from him. He made a beautiful R&B album with him SINGING. Isn't that the number one thing we were saying a few months ago? Every song that came out, "why isn't he singing?". He sang his heart out on this album with the exception of a few songs. He went from Double Up, highly hip-hop influenced, to an album that you can make a baby to. He probably still enjoys making hip-hop/rap-singing records very much. But he put those aside to make a quality R&B album because that's what the people wanted. They wanted to know if the man had it in him. Well he does. I think he'd be upset to know that even his most loyal fans arent satisfied with this project. He listened to us. "More singing R. Kelly!!!!" More R&B R. Kelly!!!" "More Baby Making music R. Kelly!!!". It must drive him crazy trying to satisfy the label, the industry, himself, and then his fans on top of that, especially when he gave us what we asked for.

Well said Kellzfan. I have no problem with the promo cd. I can't wait for the actually album to come out.

I want a quality R. Kelly album, I'm not going to make comparisons with the past. I just want the high quality that we've come to expect from the man.

Definitely, hip hop is not his thing, that's why Double Up is yet to sell 1million copies in the US today.

I believe the leaked tracks are not finished products yet they sound better than most of the stuff thats out today so imagine how good the final album would sound.

Also remember that Loveland was leaked and he went back into the studio and released the Chocolate Factory (classic) which was a combo of the old Loveland tracks (revamped)...

I thought this thread was just for those who are not satisfied, and now it's already 3 pages deep.

Anyway, I just finished a couple of thoughts dealing with what I want in R. Kelly's lyrics, but I am not finished because I still need to elaborate on the vocals and the music before I can post here. I'll get back later this week.

Be prepared for one monster of a post.
