Thread: the impact of the fifa performance on his music

i thought about this and automatically thought of his catelo

i bet "untitiled" and his other albums see a major bump now

have you heard from people discoverying him or re-discoverying him after this performance?

this could be the biggest chapter in his career and do wonders for his career. what's your take

Musically, this should have had a big impact on him and gave him further inspiration. He just needs to keep himself in the public eye now and stay out of trouble.

But at the end of the day, success-wise, I still think it all depends on whether Jive back his next album or not.

If he can stay focused on producing a mature sound, he'll be fine.
His versatility is his biggest strength, but at times it's his greatest weakness. Knowing him he'll run a do a project with Plies after this and we'll all have this WTF look on our faces. These days, you never know what you'll get from him. He seem to have more focus early in his career than now.

I wish Kelly would look at this opportunity as a time to mature his sound and tone it down a bit. I've never seen this much positivity. Not one bad review about his performance and song. People LOVE his inspirational songs and its his strength in ALL his discography. His most successful and critically acclaimed songs are all inspirational ballads and songs that showcase his vocal ability. So I hope he does more inspirational ballads (but not too cheesy) and some REAL soul music.

I personally don't think we'll see a bump in the sales of untitled, its already a forgotten project and won't get anymore push/promo.

However Halfonababy you bring up a good point. His most critically acclaimed songs are his ballads. I predict you will see a more adult contemporary sound from him in the future.....

I've told the world how he opened up the olympics....and every1 was like "wow really" "no way" and it was a shock to most.....but got everyone interested....his name is a buzzword all itself....brought a few folks back to listening to their favorites by him i bet

hopefully it does something positive for hit career and i think i should.

Plus this him the chance to Release Trapped in The Closet new chapters which should come out this summer especially with this buzz, then that will give him more push for "Zodiac", and don't forget his Memoirs are suppose to come out next year to commerate for being the game for 20 years so yeah alot of big things coming for R.Kelly, and Jive will def back R.Kelly he is the biggest star in there aresnal for sure. I mean he performed for an audience of 2 billion people I mean the world has remebered who R.Kelly is now man for sure.

I don't think the performance would give his albums a major bump, but he def. got the major exposure & in a posive way, which he needed for a long time. I strongly believe this is one of the moments he gets to expand his potential fanbase, no matter how small the increase may be. Each and every 1 of them counts. Of course, whether their interest lasts long enough to get them to buy his albums, I mean, whether they join the actual fanbase, that's a different matter, tho.

So true. Rob is such a free spirit. We really never know what we're going to get. This performance however, can do wonders for his career internationally. He has the stage and now it's his to either run with or sit on.
