Thread: Does Rob have the best singing voice?

Kells' voice is amazing we all know that. It can hit any note and the sound is smooooth. I think he has the best singing voice of any artist of all time.

Others come close: Al Green, MJ, Stevie, Celine, Beyonce.

So in your opinion, is Kells the best? And if not, who trumps him?

Rob does have a great voice, and I would say its arguably the most versatile but the best? No I wouldnt say that. Im not too well versed, but I would say that alot of the older Cats have got a better voice than Rob e.g. Michael, Marvin, Stevie, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Teddy P, Donnie Hathaway, and of course Ronald (and more). All of those Cats have got totally polished vocals, and although Rob can do great things with his voice I wouldn't say that its always perfect like the guys I mentioned above.

Think this 1 is set up for the likes of Maxxx, Gabo, Sister Helena, Sister Ricky and G.J. to chime in on.

Forgot about Teddy and Luther. Overall, you named lots of POWERFUL voices, but volume doesn't necessarily mean better.

I wouldn't say he had the best voice but i would say its a good balance of what make all the best the best.

kellz has a very good voice but i would say marvin, sam trump him..would like to hear robert sing havent heard him do it in awhile...

for me rob has the best voice, thats the reason why i became kellz fan in the first place... i remember when i heard Did you ever Think for the first time i was stunned by his voice and has been a fan ever since.. but at the end of the day i think its a matter of taste... Another artist that got an amazing vice,, maybe almost as good as kellz is Joe in my opinion, just listen to him singin nationall anthem live...

Nope. As much as I enjoy his singing voice, he is not one of the most versatile vocalists. His voice, I mean, more exactly, his vocal does have many strong points like, clarity that can get your ear instantly. Also, he's comfortable with singing songs in gospel style and R&B crooners'. I'll give you that. But I have yet to hear him sing in more various styles other than what he grew up on and as a result, which he's comfortable with. It's also probably got something to do with him being a producer-songwriter-singer. You can easily fall into temptation of writing tunes that your vocal ability can handle just right, rather than challenge yourself, even risking a feeling of insecurity about your talent and skills. Plus, I've never thought that he is one of the technically superior vocalists. On Loveland album, he did go far enough to show you he's got more techniques than he had already shown us, but that's like nothing compared to the type of vocalists who can do everything with their voices and who can take the art of vocal to another level whenever they feel like it.

When I talk about truly versatile vocalists, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, these 2 always come at the top of the list for me. I would have to think hard and long to make the list a little longer.

naw, soulful which is special and the cat can mimick pretty much anybody however and i know r. kelly is soulful but

he ain't seeing a young michael jackson. the 76-82 mj got him beat especially off the wall era mj.

amongest his peers brian mcknight got scary more range and i've heard him

those hailey boys from jodeci, crack asside when them boys ain't tripping and are just singing/sanging they got him beat

i feel kellz is very good,however upon growing up listening and so forth i've heard better pure singers. in truth i've heard alot of great singers, but i'll say he is one of the best and live he is high on my list and what has hurt him has been quality of material

between 91-98 he was really singing/sanging now i dug 00-04 and he had moments since ,but his new jack post swing era singing the cat was even higher imo.

believe me the way he stopped fully singing at times has swayed his overall ranking with me because he plays around, that trapped in the closet part i think it was chapter 12 or 13 and he does this harmony part phone rings and he teases you with a part out of nowhere and you feel the soul, however those kind of moments are few and far in between since he went club hook crazy with his vocals.

the best compiment i heard about his range was from a dj in the uk who said he had vocals on loan from heaven and lungs of a angel or something to that effect, however he holds back.


right now i got him in the very good spot or really good.

if he does some real songs again and singing who knows.
