Default do you prefer Kellz sounding Retro or Modern?

it's another 90's and 00's Question but listening to "Loveland" which has a strong 70's feel and vibe as do "Chocolate Factory and Happy People which incorperate a whole lot of that Era. but in the 90's he had certain elements of that in his Music, but He sounded more Modern in parts in the 90's and in parts in the 00's. He has a strong Hybrid of Era's in his music and He is One of the very Artists that can channel the 60's through now and not just because He has worked with the Likes of the Isley Brothers and Michael Jackson. He is Adapted at going in any Era,but which one for you best Highlights his Music best for you out of Retro with his Strong Sam Cooke,Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye,Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Others element or the Modern element where he is able to Incorperate the flavor of the moment and day into his Thing??

I say the 70's sound. Maybe, I'm bias to the 70's because I'm a huge Marvin, TSOP and the rest of the music of that era. I think R shows how much he's been influenced from that era. Those albums you mentioned are probably my three favourite ones from him, heck the only one that I would have to put in the mix would be the "R. Kelly" album.

I would like to see R dabble with the 80's sound.

I love the fact that he's all that, retro and modern at the same time and quality on all sides. The versatility is what makes him R. Kelly. But I don't think the modern element can beat his Sam Cooke, MJ, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway... vibe. I mean, those are legends, and the way Rob incorporates them into his music is just amazing. So for me it has to be retro. That's the timeless stuff I can't get enough of.

.......can't choose either. I can say I'm happy when he's doing what feels natural to him. And that means he can go both retro and modern when he feels like to. From the way he gets into the area, you can tell he's just breathing in and out musically. So natural. I find it respectable cuz that lets me see, yet again, that he grew up with rich cultural background. We all know he grew up hard. But I guess he never gave himself to despair and lost all the hope cuz he learned how to enrich life with power of music, love, and faith. Those things don't bring food to the table and pay bills, but at least don't make you feel like a mere loser and even helps you to carry on....There ain't no loser when you talk about culture of that kind. Everybody is important and everybody has a say. Unlike in the real world. I can only imagine how much strength he got from them.

So, I appreciate and admire the fact that black music(of the US) has maintained its tradition and stayed vibrant despite a lot of struggles that goes way back to the very first moment when some people began in any form and anywhere in the US soil and again, goes way back to his motherland. In a sense, Kellz tells us a long story in history through his music. It's entertaining and exciting as ever. And makes me wish for artists like Kellz in my country to bridge the gap between the past and present.

Modern but I prefer both as well. It's like a montage or devoted melange.

The man can break it down any way he wants, retro or modern. But part of me prefers the retro a bit more 'cause I love that old R&B/Soul from the 60s and 70s.
